Package Size: Package sizes vary slightly from product to product. The smallest bag is 4 pounds and the largest is 10. Obviously, the more you buy, the longer it will last but be sure your pet likes it before you buy in bulk.

Contains Fruits/Vegetables: Some of these foods contain real freeze-dried fruits and vegetables. Remember, in an ideal diet for a guinea pig fresh food is important but bits of fruits and vegetable in their dry food can make it more palatable.

Timothy Hay Based: Timothy hay is one of the best foods for guinea pigs and it’s a part of a lot of these dry foods. You can always supplement with Timothy hay, too, but it’s easy if it’s already in their food.

Pellets: All of these foods are made of pellets but they’re not all the same. Some are made of various shapes, sizes, and colors to encourage foraging while others are more uniform to avoid selective eating.

High Fiber: Generally, if a guinea pig food has Timothy hay in it, it’s high in fiber. The foods that don’t use Timothy hay don’t generally claim to be high in fiber but most use pro and prebiotics to help with digestive health.
